Dog who fell off shrimp boat found alive days later after swimming six miles to shore

Monster the dog was supposed to be gone forever when she jumped from a shrimp trawler. But a few days later, the tenacious dog managed to swim to the shore and return home.

Keith "Kiwi" Soffes, a shrimp boat captain from San Leon, Texas, enjoys going on daily boat rides with his dog Monster.

A recent trip, however, ended tragically when Monster fell overboard. Despite the fact that it was a calm day and the dog had been with Keith since she was a puppy, she was used to being on the water, and she vanished without a trace.

.Keith looked everywhere for her, but he soon started to worry. I lost the one thing I genuinely liked in this life, Keith wrote. I'm heartbroken beyond belief.

Keith shared the tale on social media in the hope that Monster would surface somewhere. Online users showered him with love and prayers.

However, five days after Monster disappeared, he had some excellent news: Monster had made it through a perilous sea voyage and was still alive and well.

The monster made it across Galveston Bay to the coast by swimming five to six kilometers, according to FOX 26 Houston.

The creature was discovered a few days after reaching the coast. When Keith heard her story, he was taken aback.

He stated to FOX 26: "I responded, 'Man, she couldn't have made that swim. There is no way that dog could have swum that far.

Keith and Monster were thrilled to be together once more after struggling through several trying days apart.

Keith couldn't speak because he was crying so much. She didn't stop kissing me.

Now that Monster is finally safe in his own home. Keith is still exhausted after the emotional journey, while Monster seems unaffected despite her extensive journey.

She acts like nothing happened, Keith wrote beside a photo of the dog sleeping soundly on Facebook. She is comfortable as she snoozes like a jaybird. I think she jumped off purposefully. Just to be on television, he said with a chuckle.

Nevertheless, I still adore her, and I'm glad to have my little friend back.

Keith told FOX 26 that in order to prevent a repeat of the incident, he will take the dog on future boat trips equipped with a tracking device and a life jacket.

What a fantastic accomplishment. We're delighted Monster arrived safely on the ground and was reunited with her worried owner. They are clearly in love and thrilled to be back together.
