Sweet Dog Suffered With Huge Salivary Tumor For 6 Years, After His Owners Refused To Take him To Vet

A sweet dog is finally receiving veterinary care after his former owners ignored his massive salivary tumor for an astounding six years. The Long Way Home rescue organization claims that although Jake was cherished by his previous family, they neglected to take him to the doctor when his face started to swell.

"Jake has been living with a salivary tumor for (according to the owners) SIX YEARS, as they assumed it was the result of a snake bite. He has excellent manners, is potty trained, gets along with other dogs, and even knows how to shake. He was raised as an indoor dog." As stated by the group

After Jake was discovered wandering around in a remote area of Texas last week, Cribs for Canines set out to persuade his family to give up custody so that they could get Jake the veterinary care he so urgently needs. Jake is receiving care in Waco and has already felt a great deal of relief after a significant amount of fluid was drained. so says the organization.

We are so appreciative of Dr. Lide and his team at Texas Animal Medical Center in Waco, who have been caring for Jake and even removed 1200cc of salivary fluid from his neck. (The final two photos show what a dramatic difference it made!)

"For the FIRST TIME IN SIX YEARS, Jake was able to turn his head. It would have been so easy to do something to give him! He is in good spirits, eating and pooping normally, and overall he is in very good health." The company stated

There are no guarantees that Jake will recover completely, but caring individuals are working hard to give him the best chance possible. Follow his rescuers on Facebook by clicking this link.
